Offering some of the fastest and most reliable servers in the world we currently offer access to hundreds of IP’s from over 80 servers worldwide. We are in no way affiliated with the official XBMC/Kodi foundation, our goal is to create user-friendly solutions to enhance what is already a brilliant system and VPNicity is just one of those enhancements.
The XBMC addon will allow you to switch to a country of your choice from anywhere within XBMC, just bring up the context menu and select the relevant country and the addon does the rest and will notify you of your new IP address. Development with the addon is very active and is improving all the time but it can already interface automatically with certain other XBMC addons, one such feature is auto detection. If you need a VPN to access particular content it can automatically detect what’s needed and the VPN will be configured accordingly.
You can minimise XBMC and use your web browser as normal with the VPN active or you can use the VPN in a traditional manner. With our service you can use the OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP protocols which means it’s totally universal and you can use it on any platform that supports those protocols. Standalone desktop applications will be available for these scenarios shortly.
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is an encrypted tunnel between two computers. When you connect to a VPN network you establish a secure connection to a remote server which serves as your portal to the internet. Your computer is assigned the IP address of your remote server, effectively cloaking your online identity and activities to your ISP, government or other 3rd parties.
VPN’s are becoming more and more popular, below are just some of the reasons why:
- Stop your ISP from throttling YouTube, Netflix or other streaming services. If your ISP cannot see your traffic, they cannot throttle it.
- Enjoy uncensored and unrestricted access to the entire internet. Our VPN servers evade all government and ISP censorship restrictions.
- Keep your online activities 100% anonymous and avoid eavesdropping from governments and ISPs
- Access to your favorite content from anywhere on the globe! Living/traveling abroad and unable to view shows because of geo-blocking restrictions? With VPNicity you’ll be able to enjoy access all your favourite content (BBC iPlayer, SkyGo, BT Sports etc.) from anywhere in the world.
- Remain anonymous from 3rd parties who monitor your online activities to harvest your personal information for sales & marketing
Yes it’s perfectly legal, everyone is entitled to online anonymity and it’s highly recommended as it adds another level of security to your system.
We’ve developed an XBMC addon meaning you can easily use VPNicity on almost any XBMC device including budget devices such as the raspberry pi. Unfortunately iOS (ipad/iphone/ATV2) is not yet supported but we haven’t given up hope and are still working on it! Please view our compatibility list here for further details. Standalone desktop apps will be released in the coming weeks but for initial launch we are just focusing on making sure you’re all happy with the XBMC addon.
We offer a 7-day free trial, so if you’re not satisfied with the service you can cancel and terminate your account. No payments will be taken after you cancel. This is done on your profile page when you log into the site. If you do not cancel within 7 days, we will presume you are happy and continue your subscription. If you want to cancel because the service doesn’t work on your device please help the community by informing us of which device you tested on along with details of the firmware/OS you’re using. If you’re on android and are not sure of the firmware the details can be found in your android settings in the “about” section, any details you can give would be much appreciated as it will help us build a more comprehensive compatibility list.
Widely regarded as the worlds best media center, amongst many other features it’s capable of streaming almost any content from the web. Best of all it’s totally FREE! More info can be found here
For those that aren’t aware XBMC recently announced it will be changing it’s name and all future releases will be named Kodi. The foundation plan to keep the same great system it’s literally just a name change so yes this should work perfectly well on all future releases but please bear in mind we only support “Stable” releases and not alpha/beta/RC. If you choose to install Kodi14 for example (at the current time of writing) that is very much a test build that will be full of bugs so we will not offer support until it’s released as “stable” by the foundation.
